STEAM Certification
In November of 2024, Westminster Elementary School was recognized as STEAM Certified schools. The process included a rigorous certification process conducted by LAUSD and outside agencies. The objective of the certification process is to require schools to examine their instructional programs, structures, lesson design processes, and stakeholder interactions that promote an effective STEAM school culture based on collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. Our school certification means that we integrate science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) through the process of critical thinking, communication, creativity, and collaboration to foster innovation for today and the future. Therefore, Los Angeles Unified is focused on ensuring all schools that identify themselves as STEM/STEAM undergo a rigorous, empowering, and calibrated certification process to ensure real-world problem-based transdisciplinary instruction.
